The Hyland Piper

My bagpiping journey started in September 2019, in Primary school, I saw one of my classmates playing the chanter and I then on just wanted to play the bagpipes. 

My primary school had it's own pipe band and learning group since it was in Edinburgh and it was great but after lockdown started it went online, my teacher throughout lockdown was Barry Donaldson and he was great! He taught me all my basics of everything I know!

After COVID I moved to Shropshire and I couldn't find a teacher until may 2023 when I joined the Wolverhampton pipe band but after a few months I realised it was too far away to continue doing it. 

My mum searched on Facebook for months looking for a teacher closer to home and we found Graham Hislop, a previous bagpipe teacher at Shrewsbury school, he still teaches me today and I wouldn't be where I am now without him!

In June 2025 I played the bagpipes at Cosford Airshow and I got asked if I would want to join the RAF Cosford pipes and drums, I gladly accepted and my bagpiping has accelerated ever since thanks to Stephen Beattie, the Pipe Sergeant!

I am very committed to bagpiping and I would love to bagpipe at anyone's events, big or small! Every week that passes my playing gets better and better!
